Websites are out, inbound is in & slam poetry is the new caffeine: MMCC 2015

The homemade ice cream at HighRoad's booth (from Love N Faith Cafe) went over pretty well with these ladies.
Did you miss ASAE's 2015 Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference? Well, you're one of the few who did. With a record attendance of more than 1,000 association employees, every session was standing room only, and it was commonplace to see people crouched on the floor taking notes.
Here are a few highlights from the conference.
Marketing Profs's Ann Handley opened it up with a speech about (surprise) content, marketing including this gem of a photo in her presentation:
"Every thing the light touches is content." Hahaha yes. @MarketingProfs #mmccon pic.twitter.com/w1icnIT8ZR

Highroad's CMO, Suzanne Carawan, gave a kickass session on how to determine association pricing policies in the digital world. She'll be giving a similar webinar this Friday on HighRoadU; Register now!
Consider allowing members 2 pay annual fees monthly. Breaks it down into manageable payments. @suzannecarawan @ASAEcenter #MMCCon

MMCC's twitter hashtag got lots of use, as you can see
"What's commonplace to you that's interesting to others?" That's a great starting point for new content. #mmccon

Color visuals increase willingness to engage by 80%. Why aren't you/your org doing infographics again? #MMCCon

Slam poet and professional speaker Sekou Andrews riled up the crowd on Tuesday morning:
I think the crowd is now 100% alert. @sekouandrews is so energizing! I'll have what he's having. #engaged #hegetsit #MMCCon @NaylorLLC

@sekouandrews connected to the hearts of all the #mmccon peeps around me & cut through the silos and pretenses. Go forth & be creative!

"You better cross 'no substitutions' off your menu." Cause that is not the world we live in now. #MMCCon
— Lisa Campo (@HighRoadLisa) June 2, 2015
And we learned how quotable Reggie Henry, ASAE's CIO, can be during a session called "It's the end of the website as we know it":
Why content is key: "If you have a 100 page site that's responsive, now you have to go through 500 pages of crap" - Reggie Henry #MMCCon

Q: How many think their websites are relevant and communicate the value proposition. Response? No hands went up. #ouch #mmccon
