4 Tips For Writing Better Digital Content 12-2-16.jpg

Writing on the web isn’t the same as writing a book or college report. If you want to succeed with your content marketing strategy, you need to understand your visitors. Here are a few tips for writing on the web.

Make It Easy to Skim

People don’t read web content like they would a book. They don’t have time to sit there and read a full report. People come online to quickly skim through content and get a general idea of a topic. Make your content easy to skim by writing short paragraphs, breaking them up with images, and using simple language.

Create Trust

People who visit your website are often first-time visitors. They don’t know who you are. If you want them to take action, you need to build trust. Do this by displaying your credentials on your site, whether it’s the years you’ve been in experience, social proof of how many followers you have, badges and certifications, etc.

Create a Good First Impression

Everything online hangs on the first few seconds your visitors see your content. It starts with an eye-catching headline and image and continues with amazing informational content. Make sure to keep a flow of content that will keep your visitors hooked.

Know The Language

The average reading level of the online visitor is at a seventh-grade level. People are looking for easy to read stuff, and are often reading in the spare time they have or on their smartphones while waiting for a bus. Don’t get too complicated; easy does it.
